Pledges to Bring Coffee to Poll Standers on Election Day
Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) applauded Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz for taking a stand for unity in the face of an often disruptive and even insulting campaign season.
“Whatever our political differences, we are all Americans,” said Larson. “We all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. I commend Starbucks and the leadership of Howard Schultz for reminding us to listen to our better angels—not partisan bickering. To that end, my campaign will be traveling across the First District on Election Day, bringing Starbucks coffee and green unity cups to poll standers of all parties—Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green. We all want the best for our families, our communities, and our country, and it is important to remember what unites us rather than what divides us.”
In his email, Schultz called for Americans to “embrace the universal virtues of respect and dignity, refusing to allow the hatred on cable news, the ugliness of our politics, and the lack of political role models for our kids to define us and to dictate how we treat each other.”
