U.S. Rep. John Larson, seeking a 15th term in Congress, has landed support from many of the biggest names in state Democratic politics, among other elected officials and labor unions in the district. […]

His four fellow U.S. representatives, all Democrats, have expressed support for his campaign, as have Connecticut’s two U.S. senators, also both Democrats.

“John has been one of my most important friends and mentors during my twenty-five years in politics,” Sen. Chris Murphy said in a statement. “John’s optimism and will to fight for what he believes in continues to move mountains.”

Added U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro: “John Larson has never forgotten where he came from and has proven himself a staunch advocate for Connecticut’s working class, our manufacturers and small businesses, and affordable health care for all Americans.”

Larson has also collected endorsements from numerous local officials, including eight mayors or first selectmen from his district, plus various additional town councilors and Democratic Town Committee leaders.

His campaign has particularly touted the support it has received from organized labor, as it seeks to draw a contrast with Bronin.

“From defending collective bargaining rights to creating good-paying union jobs, I have always been in labor’s corner,” Larson said in a statement. “Now, as Trump and his allies intensify their attacks on unions and working families, we need leaders who fight for workers every single day, not just when it’s convenient.”
