Public Housing vs. Private Equity: Larson prepares to win primary with working-class grit, coalition of progressive support

Primary voters want a fighter who will stand up to Donald Trump and deliver for Connecticut, not a centrist backed by corporate billionaires and their special interests.

John Larson is preparing for victory in the August primary, backed by a dominant lead in the polls and an expansive coalition of support from labor, progressive champions, and local leaders.

Larson is facing a challenge from his right in Luke Bronin. The contrast is stark. Public housing versus private equity. A public school teacher versus a corporate lawyer. Working families versus billionaire influence.

Larson continues to show overwhelming strength across every corner of the district thanks to the homegrown power of his working-class East Hartford background and his massive support from the district’s working families. Bronin will face more friction with organized labor, which dogged his failed governor’s race.

“This is democracy at work. Now it’s going to be very clear: it’s East Hartford public housing against Greenwich private equity. We’re in this fight on behalf of the working people I serve. We’re taking on Trump every single day, and I’m proud to be on the hit list of Members he wants out of Congress. That’s not going to happen,” Larson said. “The people in this district know what we’ve done, they know what we’ve been able to deliver, and they know that we’re in this fight. Project kids don’t give up. Project kids lean into a fight like this.”

Larson’s support is grounded by working families who can count on him to put their interests first, not corporations; and advocates who see his leadership, energy, and effectiveness standing up against Donald Trump every day.

Standing up for Connecticut isn’t about insider convention math or support from billionaire dark money groups. It’s about fighting for your community and delivering results.

Larson enters the next phase of the race with a 23-point lead in the primary, and leads in every region of the district and across the ideological spectrum.

Larson’s endorsements far outpace any other candidate, and include leaders from every level of government and advocacy:

  • Federal & State Leadership: The entire CT Congressional Delegation, U.S. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Rep. Jamie Raskin, Rep. Lauren Underwood, Congressman Pablo José Hernández (PR), CT AG William Tong, CT House Majority Leader Jason Rojas, former U.S. Rep. Barbara Kennelly, and former U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd.
  • Labor Power: Working Families Party, UNITE HERE, LIUNA, AFGE Locals 2138, 1674, and 1164, NAGE/IBPO Local R1-109, SMART, IBEW, BAC, IUEC, IUPAT, OPCMIA, UA, IUOE, Sheet Metal Workers Local 40, Greater Hartford Building Trades, the State Council of Machinists, the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers, and Allied Workers, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers, and Helpers, the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers, and the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers
  • Local Leaders: Mayors and First Selectmen from East Hartford, Manchester, Bloomfield, Middletown, and Windsor Locks, and DTC chairs across the district.
  • Advocacy Giants: Planned Parenthood Action Fund, League of Conservation Voters, Brady PAC, the Alliance for Retired Americans, and Defend The Vote.

The Larson campaign will continue mobilizing its massive coalition of support to make sure the voice of the working class is heard at the August primary.
