“You can’t ask for a better champion for the caucus, the Congress, the country, the Constitution, and the great state of Connecticut.”

Yesterday, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries traveled to Connecticut’s First Congressional District to endorse Congressman John Larson and speak to more than 200 community members, activists, and leaders. Supporters from over two dozen towns, from Hartford and Bloomfield to South Windsor and Middletown, filled the room, underscoring the breadth of Larson’s coalition and the momentum behind his re-election campaign.
At the packed event, attendees heard directly from the Democratic Leader about taking on Donald Trump, fighting ICE and shutting down the Department of Homeland Security, and securing a House majority in 2026. He emphasized delivering real relief for the American people, including repealing Trump’s tariffs, lowering costs, expanding affordable housing, strengthening workers’ rights, and expanding Social Security.
Jeffries praised Larson not only as a close friend, but as a critical partner in Congress whose experience, leadership, and relationships deliver real results for Connecticut families.
“At this moment in time, we’ve got to make sure that one of the great members of the House Democratic caucus, John Larson, who’s a tremendous champion for this community, a tremendous champion for the nation, is part of the team as we tackle issues decisively in the back half of the Trump presidency,” said Leader Jeffries. … “John Larson knows we don’t work for Donald Trump. We don’t work for JD Vance. We don’t work for their billionaire donors. We work for all of you, the American people.”
Leader Jeffries added, “You can’t ask for a better champion for the caucus, the Congress, the country, the Constitution, and the great state of Connecticut. It’s such an important occasion that I brought the alliteration – for John Larson. That’s how much he means to me. That’s how much he means to the House Democratic caucus.”
Larson emphasized his deep roots in the community and the importance of continuing to use his leadership and relationships in Congress to deliver for Connecticut.
“This special evening. I feel blessed to see so many friends and family members and people I’ve known over a lifetime of elective service,” said Congressman Larson. “And I’ve always been proud to bring people to Hartford, including President Clinton, President Obama, President Biden, the great John Lewis.”
Larson has consistently leveraged his authority and relationships to ensure the First District has a seat at the table in Washington — and that seat has translated into billions of dollars in investment back home. Investments that have funded critical infrastructure improvements, expanded access to affordable housing, supported local schools, and created good-paying union jobs throughout the First District and Connecticut.
With this latest endorsement, Larson continues to build the broadest and most diverse coalition in the race. He leads the field in endorsements from state representatives, Democratic Town Committee chairs, local officials, and is the only candidate with organized labor’s support. As momentum continues to build, his campaign is demonstrating strength at every level — from grassroots supporters to national leaders.
