This District is Not For Sale

“They’re interested in deregulating private industry, building AI data centers, rejecting universal healthcare, and pushing for more privatization.”

Hartford, CT — Local and national progressive and labor leaders held a press conference today responding to bombshell new reporting in The American Prospect. The reporting details Luke Bronin’s personal and political connections to a private-equity billionaire-backed dark-money network pushing a corporate, centrist agenda at workers’ expense.

Highlights:

Sarah Ganong, State Director, Connecticut Working Families Party:

“Some of the richest folks on Earth are now powering a national dark money network operating right here in the First Congressional District in Connecticut, trying to defeat Representative John Larson. They’re interested in deregulating private industry, building AI data centers, rejecting universal healthcare, and pushing for more privatization… this race is about who will fight for working people, who has fought for working people, and who won’t.”

Alex Lawson, Executive Director, Social Security Works:

“They will stop at nothing to try to push the champions of working people out of Congress so they can install their hand-picked puppets and cats’ paws to push their agenda… It is about one thing and one thing only: billionaires continuing their power at the expense of the working people who Representative Larson fights for every single day.”

Joe Toner, Executive Director, Connecticut Building Trades Council:

“One of the problems that we see in Connecticut is the dividing line between the haves and the have-nots. When Luke Bronin was mayor of Hartford, he made sure to take care of his developer friends over working people that live in the city. John has stood with working families since day one… Luke, on the other hand, has never stood with working families.”

Rep. John Larson:

“I’m a product of public housing, public education, and public service. This district is not for sale, and we will, and I will, make sure that we continue to represent the values of working families. That’s what makes us the great nation that we are. I will always continue to fight on behalf of the working families in this district… and stand up to the billionaire class that’s trying to buy this election.”
